My Little Piece of Mexico

The fall symbolizes peace for Mom. I, on the other hand, become restless for it is nature telling me that the extreme cold is near. I may be an "inanimate" sock monkey but, really? Is providing me with a little coat, scarf, or pair of gloves that much of a task? I love going places but even my supposedly inanimate self is not immune to the elements.

I must have a moment with Mom. Maybe the cat or dog can assist me? At least I have my sweet, warm memories of Mexico - Plaza Olvera in Los Angeles, California. Okay, so I have never crossed the border, but I can dream. And dream I shall.

At the entrance of Plaza Olvera.

Mariachi Mona: ¡Ay, ay, ay!

My new friends. Us "inanimates" are everywhere.

Mom, I will remember this happier time when you are taking
pictures of me in the dead of winter without proper winter attire.
I love you, still.

Where's Mona? Find the sock monkey, save the world.

Apparently Mexicans don't believe
in sock monkey sized clothing either.
What is a sock monkey to do?

Until next time, Plaza Olvera.
Cielito Lindo... Isn't that the name of a fish I know?

Recovering from the Fever...

I am lust.

I am passion.

I am Barrons' Babe.

Okay... Maybe not so much recovering, but on my way to rehab.

The Lost Adventure: Seal Watching

Thank you LivingSocial for appealing to my every want and "need"! How did you know on that January day I had always wanted to go seal watching? Is technology so advanced that you are able to hear my most inner thoughts? I didn't even know my desire was that strong until you brought it to my attention. Regardless of your ways, I succumbed to the temptation of having the opportunity to watch these strangely cute animals in action and purchased two vouchers. So, on Saturday, February 4th we woke up at an obscene hour for a day off and headed off to Queens to embark on our nature-filled journey on the American Princess (http://americanprincesscruises.com). Little did we know that seals, in essence, are maritime punks. Cute maritime punks, to say the least.
Mona, getting her maritime groove on.

For her first time at the beach she did quite well. It took
us a while to convince her she was not a whac-a-mole and that if
she wanted to catch the cruise she would eventually have to stop hiding in the logs.

Finally, progress was made. Let's do this!

All aboard!

And Arleen told Mona that she shouldn't go to the second deck but Mona was curious...

"Seals! Where are the seals?!"

They are underwater playing hide-n-go-seek. A bit rude these seals, no?
Did they not know they were having visitors?
And the sugar-induced comatose ride home begins. Bad monkey!

Introducing Mona Esther

I present to you Mona Esther, the awesomest sock monkey I know. I owe her presence in my life to the good people of www.sockmonkey.com. She arrived home on a cold Tuesday night, December 20, 2011 to be exact - not a day before or after, but on the day she was meant to - and she quickly made herself part of the family. I don't know how we lived so many years without her, or any sock monkey for that matter! We have so much fun going out with her, despite the occasional snide remark of a certain individual that shall remain nameless (you know who you are!), that it would be a shame not to share the joy and happiness.
